Beat the Summer Heat with These Fire Braided Buns

September is here, aka “your hair and your Zara top” have officially hit the weather. It’s sooooo hot outside, unluckily. However, rather than proposing to throw your hair into a fight, this week we give you two adorable options to help keep your head cool. Our braid guru, Stasha Harris, came to find the two perfect braided buns this summer — and I’m sure you’re going to love them. You know, you ‘re going to love them.

Below are 4 steps to create a braided bun this summer. Check them out, gals!

Step 1: Prep your hair with a deep conditioner.

This is an exceptional move before you go to your stylist. A deep-conditioning mask locks in the moisture and prevents breakup, which makes your braids sturdy.

Step 2: Coat your scalp with peppermint oil to soothe tension.

Rub a few drops of peppermint oil to help relieve itchiness and dryness if you struggle with scalp irritations after the hair is torn (do not worry, it is very common).

P.S. Do not be afraid to talk at your appointment if your fashion designer is too close or too harsh! It saves you from much unpleasantness along the way.

Step 3: Spritz on oil to refresh your style.

A lightweight, deeply hydrogenated oil spray is a necessity to keep your braids dull, dry, and boring.

Step 4: Set your braids with two pumps of mousse in the a.m.

This helps prevent stress and flyaways from appearing all day long. Work the mousse in the morning and hit it with a blow dryer to position it. BTW: You’ll need a mousse that doesn’t leave the braids steep or uneven, free of alcohol.
